[JSDN’s] Jazz Fest set was a revelation…jam band bonhomie and Louisiana stroll spiced with klezmer-style violin and funeral-parade horns…what you get if Phish had been born at Tipitina’s and studied under George Clinton and Frank Zappa late every night on the levee.

Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes rocks the house all the time every time!

You’ve never witnessed a band quite like this.

Comprised of classically (and jazzically) trained musicians, who attended rigorous music programs at famed institutions and cut their teeth on the lively New Orleans music scene, Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes somehow creates music that is both analytically interesting, and super danceable.

“Unmatched energy,” “genre-spanning,” and “thoroughly entertaining,” are just a few ways this unique and captivating group has been described over the years. Young as they look, it may be hard to believe they’ve been performing live since 2001 - that fateful night when original band members Marc Paradis (Johnny Sketch), Dave Pomerleau (Gator Dave), and André Bohren (Dirty Johnny) decided to win the Loyola University Battle of the Bands.
And the rest, as they say, is history.

Since then, they have traveled all over the country, bringing their bespoke zest to festivals and music venues alike, and leaving a riot of dancers in their wake.

Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes is excited to celebrate their 25th year as a band in the Fall of 2026!
